ArtReach was founded in 1990 as the non-profit sister organization to the Lillstreet Art Center. With 25 years of experience, ArtReach has established a broad network of alliances with arts educators and organizations. That’s why C4C is grateful to announce that they will be operating classes out of the Firework Studio at 1123 W. Roosevelt Rd.
In addition to paid classes, they also serve over 2,000 participants per year with more than 8,000 diverse art encounters in ceramics, mosaics, textiles, metals, painting, drawing and printmaking. ArtReach, as its name implies, is committed to serving youth and adult populations in greater Chicago that face the greatest barriers (e.g., economic resources or large geographic distances) to accessing art programming, so they focus on reaching refugees, home-bound seniors, differently abled populations (like vision impaired), formerly incarcerated adults, recovering persons and impoverished communities.
ArtReach is highly mobile and it brings professional teaching artists and materials right to a diversity of individuals and communities. In schools, like Smyth, for example, they could do in-depth residencies, after school programs and field trips to professional studios. In our community, or throughout Chicago, they could do adult or intergenerational programming in parks, residential centers, and social service agencies.
