Community Day of Service for the new garden at Smyth

A new garden is about to come to Smyth, our neighborhood elementary school and your help is needed.

Gardeneers, a local non-profit aimed at providing Chicago youth with food knowledge and access through cultivating school gardens, in conjunction with the Smyth Magnet School welcomes the community for a day of service. We hope to make Madison’s Garden (the garden at Smyth) a community space by connecting students, parents, and partners to become a more unified Chicago. On this day, participants will get their hands dirty, providing garden maintenance to beautify the garden by weeding, planting, building paths, building a compost bin, painting garden signs, and having fun (don’t forget to dress appropriately for the work and weather and bring a water bottle)! We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday, May 7th, from 10:00am – 1:00 pm. The entrance to the garden is on Blue Island, just north of the school.  Lunch is sponsored by Chipotle Mexican Grill.
