|Along with another successful year of our Summer Program in the Arts for incoming freshmen, STM launched three new high school arts camps this year!
Over the course of three weeks 75 high school students worked with UIC faculty and guest artists to create an original theatre work, polish their jazz improvisation skills and/or perform in symphonic band with students from all over Chicagoland. News from STM
We’re thrilled to welcome two more new faculty members this month.
Rachelle Palnick Tsachor joins us as Assistant Professor of Theatre in Movement. Her research, scholarship and artistic creation focus on the connection between the mind and the body, and how function and expression work well together.
Saxophonist Christopher Madsen comes on board as music faculty. Since returning to Chicago he has performed all over the city with his own groups as well as the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Ron Perrillo quartet, and the Rob Parton, Tom Matta, Mulligan Mosaics, and Joe Clark big bands. He has released four albums under his name and been involved with countless other recording projects.
Along with acting as faculty director for our theatre camp, Jason Martin somehow found the time to coach FIVE different accents for Merry Wives of Windsor at First Folio Theatre and is currently coaching dialect for a new adaptation of Jane Eyre at Lifeline Theatre. His summer activities covered RP British, Cockney, Devonshire, Welsh, French, Polish, and Yorkshire. What a mouthful!
