FACULTY SPOTLIGHT
MUSIC

Since moving to Chicago from London in 2001, trombonist and composer Andy Baker has established a reputation as one of the most in-demand and versatile musicians in town. Andy is lead trombonist of the Chicago Jazz Ensemble, co-leads the sextet BakerzMillion and is a first-call theatre and studio musician. He has performed and recorded with a wide array of ensembles including the Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Fulcrum Point New Music Project and the Chicago Jazz Orchestra.

THEATRE
 
Derrick Sanders is the Founding Artistic Director of Congo Square Theatre Company and has had the pleasure of performing and directing across the globe. He is the Program Director of the Chicago auditions of the nationally recognized August Wilson Monologue Competition. STM hosts the competition preliminaries this week and semi-finals next Monday.

UIC Jazz Ensemble featuring Randy Brecker

Trumpeter Randy Brecker has been shaping the sound of Jazz, R&B and Rock for more than four decades. A true musical pioneer, his dazzling trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists and garnered multiple Grammy Awards. He appears with UIC’s Jazz Ensemble, directed by UIC Faculty Andy Baker in the finale concert of UIC’s annual High School Jazz Festival. UIC’s faculty combo opens the performance.
