Jazz vocalist Dee Alexander to sing at UIC – FREE!

The academic year has started and with it all the free events open to our community at UIC.  On  September 10 fro  1:00 – 1:45 Dee Alexander, Chicago’s premier jazz vocalist will be performing at the EPASW building (Dee Alexandernorthwest corner of Harrison and Morgan) in the Performing Arts Center.
Among the premier vocalists and songwriters in America music today, Dee Alexander has delighted audiences and impressed critics with her flawless intonation, her interpretive brilliance, her intrepid improvising, and the range of genres that she commands. From a sultry ballad to a contemporary funk groove, high-flying swing to a romping scat solo, Alexander delivers every note with a passion and grace that leave her listeners limp. She is joined by pianist Miguel de la Cerna, Harrison Bankhead on bass and UIC faculty Ernie Adams on drums.  Take a late lunch break with free professional lunchtime performances at the School of Theatre & Music all semester, this is a great one to start.
