Run to Remember

Police Memorial Over at University Commons many of our residents are police officers.  I am sure that you too can count police officers as your neighbors or you know someone outside of your neighborhood who is one.

562 Chicago police officers have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the citizens of Chicago. Please pay tribute to these brave men and women by participating in the 9th Annual Run to Remember.  You can run or walk as an individual or register with a team.  Fund raise more than $25 using your personal donation page and be entered into a raffle to win awesome prizes!  The event is held at Gold Star Families Memorial and Park, located on the lakefront  just east of Soldier Field.

The date is Saturday, May 4th.  There is a 5K Run/Walk staring at 8 a.m.  A Junior Jog starts at 9:30 a.m.  There will be children’s activities during the race and a family friendly post race party on site.

If you are not able to do the run/walk but would like to volunteer  that day they certainly can use your help.

The mission of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to honoring the lives of our fallen Chicago Police heroes.  The Foundation provides support and financial assistance to the families of Chicago Police Officers who were killed or catastrophically injured in the line of duty. They have already completed and maintain the nation’s finest police memorial in Gold Star Families Memorial and Park located on our lakefront.  Now the Mission Beyond the Memorial focuses on the needs of men and women of the Chicago Police Department and their families, continuing in the same spirit of loyalty and generosity that is such a rich part of the law enforcement tradition. Through generous support, they serve the families of those who have served and protected Chicago’s families.
