Kathleen has been living in University Commons since 2007. She fell in love with the community while watching its development from an art history/urban planning/design perspective while studying at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
A south-sider at heart, Kathleen grew up in Beverly — and yet, has an affinity for the Cubs. Her first job was at Beverly Records and her second was as phone canvassing trainer for OFA ’08. Having been exposed to grassroots organizing from a young age, Kathleen believes that only through a combination of active community involvement and a genuine interest and understanding of humanity, can we create truly innovative social change.
Kathleen is currently a stay-at-home mom to 2.5 year-old Billy, development/communications/social media strategist for several Chicago nonprofits, and co-founder, president of Optomize Practice Management Services. She spends most of her days running across town to various toddler classes but you can almost always find her at Tot Lot at some point each day (look for the kid in the Cubs hat and sunglasses). In her free time, she photographs, cooks, and enjoys all that our amazing neighborhood has to offer with her family.
