Meet Kate Tormey: C4C Events/Activities blogger

Kate Tormey is a longtime resident of the University Village/Pilsen area — and a strong supporter of the wonderful community here in the shadow of downtown Chicago.

A native of Glenview, Ill., Kate attended Northwestern University, where she met her husband Frank, a Bridgeport native. While they lived on the North Side in the beginning, it wasn’t long before she was lured south of Madison Street — and the two settled in this vibrant community, where they are raising a young daughter.

Kate’s professional background is in journalism, and she works as a writer and editor for a nonprofit organization serving state government officials. She also works in health care policy, helping state policymakers share innovative ideas on how to improve their health care systems. Kate is currently launching a business aimed at providing lifestyle coaching for moms-to-be and for people living gluten-free.
