Respect Yourself, Protect Yourself: Latina Girls and Sexual Identity…A book signing by UIC Professor Lorena Garcia

On Wednesday November 14th at 4 PM, Professor Lorena Garcia, from the sociology department at UIC, will be talking about her research on Latina girls from Chicago: their  sexual identities and the meanings they give to their lives. This will be happening right here in our own neighborhood, at Powell’s bookstore (corner of Roosevelt and Halsted). Professor Garcia will talk about writing her book, gathering her data in Chicago, and some of her findings. She’ll be signing copies too. Light refreshments will be served.

These kind of interesting public events are one of the great benefits of living in a university neighborhood.   I happen to be hosting this event and would love to see some of my neighbors.
