Benito Garcia is a senior at the University of Illinois at Chicago pursuing a degree in Urban and Public Affairs, concentrating in regional development. He plans to enter the field of green design and sustainability, while incorporating them in developing areas.
Ben has worked in numerous events such as Wicker Park Fest in Chicago, raising awareness on the importance of utilizing green methods. He’s also participated in UIC’s urban planning Student Alumni Connections Committee; where he was mentored by professionals dealing with the developmental process of communities through innovation, effective collaboration & identifying parties with similar goals. Working with a mentor, Ben has been currently researching diverse cities in different parts of the world, focusing on the infrastructure of urban communities in his work with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
In his spare time, he enjoys bicycling, exercising, sky diving, traveling, going out with friends & watching movies. He has a passion for music and occasionally plays the keyboard.
